Brando: Sassy, smart, and sometimes stinky

Updated on March 25, 2013

Meet Brando!

Brando is a sweet, smart, loving kitty companion. He loves getting his belly rubbed, playing with toy mouses from Amazon, and trying to snuggle the baby (they're "brudders"). He can be onery, too, and "misses" his litter box when he's unhappy with something. He loves to explore everything -- even his empty carrier!

Brando is a great guy and we love him. He looks after us, was a guard kitty when I was pregnant (he got a raccoon tail and stood between me and whatever loud sound had startled him), and doesn't even freak out when the baby tugs a little too hard on his tail. He's the best cat we could ask for!

About Brando's mom

I've always been an animal person. I currently have Brando and a sugar glider, GIR. In the past, I had two rabbits, two other sugar gliders, two other hedgehogs, and a few hamsters. My parents had dogs that I loved to death, and I never considered myself a cat person. I think it's rude when cats hold their tails up in the air and back up into your face. ;) Brando is the first cat I've met that maintains his dignity and personal space (except for excessive snuggles). For the first time, I'm a "cat person!"

The photo is of Brando kneeding my belly while I was pregnant with my son.

Where Brando came from

Brando came from one of my close friends. Unfortunately, her husband developed a very severe allergy to Brando. He was well-cared for and loved very much at his old home, but we love him so much and are KINDA glad we got to adopt him (but very sorry about my friend's huzz's allergies!).

Why "Brando?"

Before Brando was adopted, he had a brother, named "Marlon." Unfortunately, that kitty died, so now there is just a Brando. He fits his name well so it was kept by the original owner and myeself.

Fur mice

Brando is OBSESSED with these guys! We tried a few different kinds of mice (leather, short-hair, etc.), but these are the ONES! He snuggles with them, bats them around, carries them around, tosses and catches them in the air, and hides them. I don't honestly know what Brando would do without them: Probably get into trouble!

Brando's "meows" sound like he's saying:

BROOWWWNNN!

This is Brando's second-favorite toy! They always seem to diappear (hint: check your shoes), but the crinkle sound drives him crazy! He loves to bat it around by himself and catch it in the air.

A great book for kids with cats

We love this book because it not only introduces our child to cats, but it helps us teach him how to treat Brando with love, respect, and nice hands.
